Engineer at Cisco

My team consists of engineers and researchers in core software, UI, UX, Big Data, Full stack, Formal, Mathematical modeling, as well as policy, security and other networking domain, drawn from academia, industry and several Big Data companies. My job as an engineer is to understand system requirements, design appropriate tests, collaborate with other specialists to triage issues and drive their resolution, support customers by using their data set to recreate issues, and verify resolution and support lab network for testing.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

I get to solve network issues which are very important for various clients. That is both the most rewarding and challenging part.

If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?

Having an internship and performing well and proving yourself in the internship is of utmost importance. I cannot stress more on that point. It helps you land a job immediately once you graduate and as an international student that is very important. You need to make right contacts during your internship. These help you secure your future and do the job you have always wanted to do.

What advice do you have for students looking for their career after college?

Industrial exposure is a must. Try planning for your internship a semester before you graduate. Perform well in it and you would have no troubles in securing a job.
