Dr. Jessaca Spybrook, associate professor of evaluation, measurement and research, was awarded a three-year, $799,665 grant from the National Science Foundation entitled “Planning Cluster Randomized Trials of Science Education Interventions: An Empirical Investigation of Design Parameters for Studies of Teacher Interventions.”

The purpose of the project is to improve the planning and design of studies of science teacher interventions by (1) conducting a meta-analysis of science education studies of interventions focused on improving teacher outcomes to establish context-specific effect sizes, and (2) analyzing teacher-level data to empirically estimate design parameters necessary for planning multi-level science intervention studies.

Spybrook will work on the project with Joseph Taylor and Fatih Unlu, Senior Associates/Scientists at Abt Associates, and Susan Kowalski, Science Educator at BSCS.
