Elizabeth Carr
Bio:

Liz Carr has been teaching middle school and high school English for 26 years in a variety of settings. This year marks her 11th year with ATYP. She has chosen to do life with Dr. Matthew Carr since 1998. Their two children, Rachel (freshman at West Ottawa High School) and Robert (6th grade at Macatawa Bay Middle School), keep them on their toes.

When not taxiing humans to Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, football, dance, baseball, basketball, and youth group, Liz teaches Honors English 9/10 for the Academically Talented Youth Program at Western Michigan University and manages Matt’s medical practice. Every day is a mix of medical billing, payroll, Human Resources, attempting to convince 7th and 8th graders that Shakespeare is incredibly cool, working with gifted humans on why mistakes are good and that struggle is when we learn, and finding one’s academic voice in writing. Liz is a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts, Gold Awardee, and proud Girl Scout leader of a crazy group of Cadettes and Seniors. She has volunteered as a camp counselor and camp dean for As We Are and Polar Bear Camps for 24 summers at Lake Louise UM Camp. She is the current Vice President of the LLCC Board of Trustees.
